For the best results, you should mow your grass the day it is delivered. If you are unable to do so, ensure that your lawn is shaded and kept moist.
Step 1: Determine the Turf Area
To determine how much lawn you need to purchase, measure your area. Add the length and width of the area you are measuring. Divide irregular shapes into smaller triangles or squares. Each portion was calculated, and the results were added.
Step 2: Get the turf ready.
Use a weed killer to completely eradicate any existing grass and weeds. Any rocks, stones, weeds, or existing lawn should be removed. Rake the soil in your area until it is even and 100 mm high. The prepared area must be 30mm lower than any boundaries, paths, or edging.
Step 3: Prior to Laying Lawn
Before laying, position the turf delivery in the shade to prevent sun or heat damage to the turf on the pallet. Make sure the soil is moist, then apply a launcher fertiliser evenly.
Step 4: Laying turf slabs.
The soil should be damp enough to install turf. Not too dry, not too wet. Starting your turf installation along a straight border, such as a driveway, path, fence, etc., is recommended. To prevent overlapping and ensure all edges are neatly tucked in, the grass rows should be spaced out in a brick pattern.
If you are laying on a slope, it is ideal to lay your turf across the slope rather than down. Until there is enough root structure to hold the grass in place, you may need to anchor your turf in place. To form around strange shapes like garden beds, trees, etc., use a sharp knife or a shovel. After installing the grass, remove any air pockets by lightly rolling it with a roller dipped in water. This will ensure that the turf’s roots have good contact with the soil.
Step 5: Water the newly rolled grass.
Watering right after installation is crucial. When installing greater numbers or in hot weather, start watering after you’ve spread out half or a small piece. Make sure each slab has been equally and properly watered by watering methodically.
So until the roots take root, the soil beneath the slabs must be kept moist. It is advised to water it 2-4 times a day, but don’t flood it. You must water from above if you have subsurface irrigation until the roots are well-established. After the initial watering, roll the grass with a water-filled or concrete roller to achieve maximum soil contact and remove any air pockets that may have remained beneath the turf. Study more.
Step 6: Fertilize a new lawn
Fertilizer should be administered periodically throughout the establishment to make sure the plant obtains the right amount of nutrients.
